Chris Mason, M.D., Ph.D. F.S.B., F.R.C.S.I., F.R.C.S.

Dr. Mason is internationally recognized to be at the forefront of the emerging field of cell therapy translation and commercialization. His diverse background in academia, surgery, and commerce includes former IT entrepreneur and company directorships, a clinical sciences degree from Imperial College London, a medical degree from United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St. Thomas’s Hospitals, a Ph.D. degree in tissue-engineering bioprocessing from University College London and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Dr. Mason’s current responsibilities include being professor of Regenerative Medicine Bioprocessing at University College London, chair of the UK BioIndustry Association’s Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Industry Group, senior editor of Regenerative Medicine, director of the London Regenerative Medicine Network, trustee of the UK Stem Cell Foundation, member of the Biologicals and Vaccines Expert Advisory Group of the Commission on Human Medicines and member of the United States Pharmacopeia Monographs – Biologics and Biotechnology Expert Committee. In May 2012, he became the first president of The Regenerative Medicine Coalition. He has a broad range of expertise in commercial consultancy and is on the advisory boards of a number of companies based in Europe and North America. On many occasions, Dr. Mason has acted as a general spokesperson for the sector including newspaper, radio, and TV interviews plus frequent news briefings.
