Dr. Mazumder is professor of medicine at New York University School of Medicine, specializing in bone marrow and blood stem cell transplantation. He is director of the Multiple Myeloma Program at the New York University Cancer Center. He received a medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and did his internship and residency training at Baylor College of Medicine located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Dr. Mazumder served four years as a clinical associate in hematology and medical oncology for the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, while doing research in immunology under Steven Rosenberg, M.D., for three of those years.
Dr. Mazumder is a member of numerous professional organizations such as the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Association of Immunologists, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology. He has frequently been a guest speaker at several conferences and conventions. He served as a reviewer for NIH Study Sections on experimental immunology and experimental therapy for almost 10 years. Dr. Mazumder presides on the editorial board of the International Journal of Oncology and is a reviewer for Nature, Science, and The Journal of Immunology, among other prestigious publications. He has contributed more than 100 articles to peer-reviewed journals and has a number of abstracts, book chapters, and invited presentations to his credit.
